Since the military takeover in 2021, nearly half of Myanmar’s population now lives in poverty. Ongoing conflict has caused unprecedented levels of displacement, with almost 2 million people internally displaced and around 96% of the population facing poverty or humanitarian need.
In addition to conflict, natural disasters such as floods and storms have worsened living conditions — destroying homes, livelihoods, and community resilience. The combination of conflict and disaster has forced many vulnerable families to depend entirely on humanitarian aid for survival.
MA Livelihoods Social Enterprise (MALSE) was established in Myanmar to help rebuild lives and strengthen livelihoods. MALSE provides consultancy and technical services across a range of sectors, including livelihood development, safety and security, investment, and donor grant management. Its mission is to protect livelihood assets, enhance productivity, and create sustainable job opportunities for the people of Myanmar.
